When Life Happens

Well hello there! Gosh, I can’t believe it has been a little over two months since my last post. I am sure you have been wondering, “where have you been?” Honestly, life happened (for example a big shift at work, getting Covid for the first time, quarantining in a foreign country, etc.) so I took a break from writing to you each week.

Now that I am back, I thought I would share in today’s post what I do to get back to Day 1 because I wish someone had written something like this for me when I was going through the unexpected.

Below are some tips I use to help me embrace more of the uncontrollable.

  1. Enjoy the present day. For me I had some pretty cool adventures! I took my very first International trip to Madrid and London. This experience was so unique that I’m already thinking about my next trip. More to come in a future post. Also, taking a vacation to Chicago with Brutus. As well as getting back to my blog.
  2. Feel the feelings. It sounds abstract and it probably is but I know when I experience unexpected change, no matter if it’s big or small, I get a flood of emotions. Over the past couple months, I had feelings of shock, sadness, excitement, curiosity and nervousness. Like a flood, you have to wait it out. For me I just sat with all my feelings, sorted through them and processed them. In the end one feeling stood out… Excitement.
  3. Get excited. There is a lot to look forward to with life. Although I’m facing a lot of ambiguity, particularly at work, there will be a new, exciting challenge ahead! For example, I will be learning a new business, helping to build a new organization, meeting new team members, accomplishing new goals  and so much more.
  4. Focus on me. In life it’s easy to forget about yourself. Especially a nurturer like me. So now, I’m remembering I’m here too and I need to focus on myself. So first, I’m investing time expanding my skills at work. Taking classes, meeting with mentors, and volunteering on projects. Next, I’m spending more time here with you all. Strategizing content, writing posts, scripting videos and plotting photo shoots. Then, I’m taking a long break. For 6 weeks at the end of this year I am going to take a long vacation. I have never done that before. Most of my vacations are not much longer than a week. I am super excited and so blessed to have this opportunity. Lastly, I’m going to spend time solidifying my daily routine and devoting time on my weightloss journey playbook designed by my health coach, Heather so I can FINALLY accomplish my weightloss goals!

Bottomline, life got me lost in the wilderness letting my feelings drive my car. Now, I am in the driver seat. Have you experienced something that caused you to get lost with your feelings? Did you get back in the driver seat? Please share below.

Until next time, have a joy filled day.
